A New Chapter - Working on Poverty Alleviation

I came across an opportunity to do work on poverty alleviation, which is something I always wanted to do - the bonus is that this is work done as a freelancer, which means compensation is involved. The only thing that stands between me and this role right now is a proposal. This was the request from the organisation to ensure ways of working are compatible, and that both of our directions align.  I have a template of a roadmap, not necessarily a proposal, but I think to an extent they are interchangeable terms. The only guide given is that this proposal will be self-determined, so let's see what I still have in store in my CSO noggin. Bismillah. --- Actually, on second thought, what is preventing myself from starting the initiative on my own? The pro of doing this with the organisation is that I will get paid, though ultimately that will have to align with my expectations. I was actually torn between wanting to be altruistic and wanting to know how much I will be compensated for my...

(Finally) starting a blog?

So I'm thinking of starting an environmental/climate change blog that allows me to express and expand my interests into the wider environmental scene. I'm going to hone my interest not only in waste management and Orang Asli issues, but also into biodiversity and to an extent, public health. The fact of the matter is there are important climate change linkages that have yet to be discussed here in Malaysia, so I figured it would be good to begin discussions on them. It would be important for me to disclaim from being an expert, but one doesn't have to be an expert to initiate discussions on important worldly topics.  At the same time, I'm thinking of compiling my experience from being an undergraduate to a UK PACT officer, and the thinking involved that has gotten me to where I am, which is where I had hoped to be. I'm hoping to do my masters soon, if not actually this month, perhaps sometime next March. ---  Story, the First  I was formally introduced to the Malays...

First Blog Entry as a Climate Advocate

This is it. My first ever post as a youth climate advocate, and I'm pretty pleased about it. This has been a long time coming. Among other things, the idea behind this blog is to share my experience from having been involved in COPs as well as climate advocacy in general. In a way, this is meant to be a reminder for myself on the importance of committing to climate action, whilst I hope that such content would serve as motivation and inspiration to those who want to contribute to the fight against the climate crisis - no matter how small that contribution may be.  For starters, I think it would be good to talk about the origins of joining the Malaysian Youth Delegation. Frankly speaking, the rationale behind joining MYD was to assess whether I'd be interested in work related to policy - climate policy to be exact. The fact that I'm still involved with MYD is telling that climate policy work is something that I align with. Having had the opportunity to attend COP in 2017 and...
